Here is the latest on Apocalypse. Six Flags America completed the circuit. Electrical work has begun and most of the supports have been painted black. Construction has begun on the station.

Six Flags America has been working hard to improve the Skull Island area. Replacing some of the concrete in front of Apocalypse with increte, replacing Johnny Rockets with Aviator Grill, remodeling the bathrooms in Skull Island, putting in a veranda that will spray a mist, painting Pirates Flight and adding a nice sized monument sign for one of the oldest and original rides in the park, removing and rebuilding the retaining wall around Pirate's Flight making for a wider midway.

Overall, Apocalypse looks amazing from the midway. Especially when you turn the corner between Panda Express and the WB Theater and continues to attract the attention of park guests.

The Wild One Roller Coaster at Six Flags America celebrates 95 years in 2012. The coaster originally opened as The Giant Coaster at Paragon Park in Hull, MA in 1917. While the ride has been modified from it's original length of 4000' feet at Paragon Park, it still has a kick.

This coaster has been touched by some of the greatest coaster designers in the business. According to the book "Herbert P. Schmeck The Forgotten Legacy" by Torrence Jenkins Jr. John Miller, Herbert Schmeck, John Allen, Charles Dinna nd Curtis Sommers have been involved with this ride at some point in its history.

What is your favorite part of the Wild One? The drop? Going inside the skull? The kick to the right after the turn around? All of the pops of "air"? The helix?
